Online Safety at Woodhouse

Online safety is an important part of keeping children safe at our school. Our scheme, Kapow, offers full coverage of the KS1 and KS2 Computing curriculum. Online safety is taught each half-term and our framework aims to equip children with the skills, knowledge and values they will need as they grow up and enter an increasingly digital society. The importance of teaching our children from a young age to be digitally literate cannot be overstated.

At Woodhouse, we have Online Safety Ambassadors from years five and six, they attend regular meetings throughout the year at a local school and complete challenges. They offer support to peers who may have questions, they encourage others to talk about online worries and they conduct activities such as online safety quizzes or whole school assemblies to ensure that our pupils are aware of the importance of online safety.

In 2018, the UK government released Education For A Connected World. This framework provides guidance on supporting children and young people to navigate their way through the digital world safely.
